Q-1 : What all is changing?

Ans : We are changing the domain name and complete email solution.

Q-2 : What will be my new mail id?

Ans : Just the domain name of your email id will change. For example, if your current email id is you@airtelbroadband.in, the new email id would be you@airtelmail.in

Ans : We are changing for better. The new email solution is best in class, scalable and would be the platform for all future innovations. Q-4 : Why should I change my mail id?

Ans : With this change, you will receive a mail id on a futuristic, scalable mailing platform. The new platform will be the basic engine for all future innovations on mailing and messaging.Further more the old id will be phase off in due course of time.

Q-5 : When this change will happen?

Ans : This change will be effective 15th February 2008.

Q-6 : What will happen to my existing mail-id?

Ans : Your existing mail-id will be valid for 3 months from 15th Feb.08. During this time period, all your mails sent on existing or new mail-id will be delivered to a common In-box and will be accessible thru new web-mail interface.

Q-7 : How long will the old email id be valid? Will I continue receiving mails from the old id till I inform my contacts?

Ans : Yes. You will be able to receive emails on old email ids for a period of three months from 15th February 2007. For example, the mails for sanjay@airtelbroadband.in(the old email id) will be forwarded to sanjay@airtelmail.in (the new email id). This is being done for your convenience, to provide adequate time to update your contacts of your new email address. After 15th May 2008, only the airtelmail.in domain will remain active.

Q-8 : What will happen to my mails which are there in existing mail-box?

Ans : You need to migrate your mails from to new In-box. Step-by-step guide for same is available.

Q-9 : How I can access new portal?

Ans : You can access web mail through http://mail.airtelmail.in. New e-mail accounts may also be created from the same website.

Q-10 : How I can create a new E-Mail Id?

Ans : You can create new E-Mail Id using your DSL Id and Password. To create new E-Mail Id, you need to visit http://mail.airtelmail.in

Q-11 : How many E-Mail Ids I can create?

Ans : As per our new policy, Customer on Business Plans can create 5 free e-mail Ids.Residencial and other customers get 2 free e-mail Ids.

Q-12 : I am a retail customer and have more than 2 EMail Ids. What will happen to those extra mail Ids?

Ans : We'll migrate all existing E-Mail Ids to the new system free of cost.

Q-13 : I am a commercial customer and have more than 5 EMail Ids. What will happen to those extra mail Ids?

Ans : We'll migrate all existing E-Mail Ids to the new system free of cost.

Q-14 : How I can buy extra mail-ids?

Ans : You need to send email request to customer helpdesk.

Q-15 : Do I need to change my E-Mail Client settings?

Ans : Yes, you need to enable SMTP & Pop3 / IMAP access through web mail interface and modify your E-Mail client as per instructions.

Q-16 : What is new SMTP & Pop3 Server address?

Ans : SMTP Server is - smtp.gmail.com and Pop3 Server is pop.gmail.com. Please note that SMTP Mail server requires authentication and you can use same settings as Incoming mail server. Also SMTP and Pop3 servers require encrypted connection (SSL).

Q-17 : What are ports of SMTP & Pop3 servers?

Ans : The port of SMTP server is 465 and the port of Pop3 server is 995.

Q-18 : I use Dial up service and not DSL. Will my mail id also be migrated to airtelbroadband.in domain?

Ans : If you are using our fixed line services and have a mail id like user@airtelbroadband.in, only then it will change. Not otherwise.

Q-19 : I want to inform my contacts about the new mail address. How do I inform them all?

Ans : We suggest that you set "Mail client signature" with the desired message. Also kindly rewrite headers to reflect the new email id.

Q-20 : I am using e bill option. Will I get my bills on the new mail id?

Ans : Yes, Airtel Broadband will update the new email address in the contact details automatically.

Q-21 : Will there be any change in my user id?

Ans : No. There is no change in your E-Mail user id.

Q-22 : I am a new customer who does not have the old airtelbroadband.in mail id? Should I do anything at all? How do I configure?

Ans : Your new email id will be configured in the new domain only. You will receive a mail id which looks like xyz@airtelmail.in.

Q-23 : What's the quota limit per e-mail id?

Ans : As the e-mail platform is provided by Google. So, In-box size is dynamically increasing. At present, they offer 6 GB space per e-mail Id.

Q-24 : Can we send executable file in attachment?

Ans : No, G-Mail does not allow executable attachment.

Q-25 : Will it affect the relay SMTP servers?

Ans : No, we'll change the SMTP and Pop servers for airtelbroadband.in domain only.

Q-26 : At present I have an option of modifying the quota for email ids/ inbox size at present. Can I modify the quota in the new system

Ans : No, the quota cannot be modified. We introduced that option because the default mailbox size was just 5 MB in old system, but in new version its > 6GB, Plus is dynamically increasing. So probably you'll no longer require that feature anymore.

Q-27 : Should I change my settings before 15-Feb-08?

Ans : No, we appreciate your enthusiasm towards new solution, but the server settings will be modified only on 15-Feb-08. So please change your records on 15th-Feb or after.

Q-28 : I have special character (like & % +) in my present email id. Will I have to change my email id?

Ans : Well, our new mail system is as per international standards.Thus only Three special characters are allowed underscore (_), dot (.) and hyphen (-). Customer having any other character like & + etc will have to change to next available id.

Q-29 : If I migrate from a commercial plan a residential plan, what will happen to my email ids?

Ans : Taking a customer centric viewpoint, you will continue to enjoy the email ids that you have created. However any unused capacity will be purged as per new plan.
